Lizzy Hodges has extensive experience working with children, young people, families and couples. This includes attachment and relationship challenges, trauma, grief and loss, separation, parenting, mental health, emotional and social difficulties. Lizzy specialises in family work with a focus on understanding and improving parent/child relationships, couples work and the general wellbeing and functioning of the family. Lizzy also has experience working with individuals experiencing a range of complex challenges.
Lizzy has a Masters of Clinical Family Therapy (La Trobe University), a Bachelor of Applied Science, Psychology (RMIT University) and a Graduate Certificate in Child and Family Practice (La Trobe University). Lizzy is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation Processing (EMDR).
Lizzy incorporates an empathic, respectful, warm and playful approach to therapy with children and families. She offers a safe, inviting space for individuals and families to come and discuss their concerns in a supportive manner. Lizzy uses various therapeutic approaches to assist in her work however has a keen interest in using EMDR. The process of EMDR assists the brain to process experiences that can help address a range of symptoms such as anxiety, low mood, fear and helplessnes.
